End User Applications in Free Software

Autor(es) Janet Casey

Macrotema Desktop

Horário 03 de Junho - sexta, 10:15/11:15, 40T

Descrição

Guidance in choosing and using free software applications.

This talk will help end users (and those like sysadmins who work with end users) decide how to choose among all the free software applications that exist. Topics will include the myth that free software is hard to use, the questions of setting up your own desktop vs using a preconfigured desktop, how to choose from a number of the same applications (ie how to pick a window manager from the dozens that are out there), how to evaluate applications, and how to get help with free software applications.
