Descrição: Shane will discuss how Free Software has become a key paradigm in ICT and why an understanding of the licensing and philosophy underpinning the movement is critical to assuring effective engagement.

Descrição He will explain emerging trends in the Free Software community and how FSFE\'s Freedom Task Force is bringing together legal experts to prepare for Free Software\'s projected 32% European ICT market share by 2010.He will illustrate the practical result of this work by explaining how the Freedom Task Force works with gpl-violations.org to raise awareness of differences between Free Software and proprietary software, and the different deployment processes and licence management planning that it requires.

Sobre o Autor Shane Coughlan

Shane Martin Coughlan was born in the Republic of Ireland and moved to England for higher education. He studied at the University of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands and read for his MA at the University of Birmingham. His research during his MA was focused on security, and he produced a thesis on cybernetic warfare. Shane has given numerous talks on security and on Free Software issues throughout the UK and Ireland. He has been involved in open standard certification work as a consultant. He has worked as the full-time for the Freedom Task Force - FSFE\'s legal project - since October 2006.
